Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheim Ring Edition honors the track’s 90th anniversary

The Hockenheimring race track in Germany is celebrating its 90th anniversary and to celebrate the occasion, Porsche has announced the first Taycan special edition model. Called the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition, it features a stone grey exterior color from the brand’s custom color program, which is complemented by SportDesign side sills, a louvered rear diffuser insert, and a trunk badge all finished in Bronzite.

Other exclusive features included in the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition are special keys unique to this model and are also painted in stone grey. This entitles them to extra perks at the Porsche Experience Center at the Hockenheimring like two years of free charging during the site’s opening hours and preferred parking at the Früschicht events, a monthly gathering of Porsche enthusiasts.

Porsche made the Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition extremely rare because it will be available only for one year and the exterior color won’t carry over to the next model year. It also gets 21-inch Mission E Design alloy wheels with center areas painted in Bronzite with a satin finish and edges in high gloss stone grey. Black brake calipers and a colored Porsche Crest round out the changes to the wheels.

Inside, the cabin sports black leather upholstery with decorative stitching in island green, and “90 Jahre Hockenheimring” anniversary logos. Porsche chose the Taycan for this special edition to pay homage to the Hockenheimring’s anniversary motto of “mobile evolution with traditional elegance.” It also gets Paldao open-pore wood trim, island green 12 o’clock marking on the steering wheel, and floor mats with leather inserts and island green stitching. The air vents, gear selector, and cup holders are finished in Bronzite. Porsche also added puddle lights showing the Hockenheimring anniversary logo.

From the looks of it, the Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition is only available in the sedan body style and not the sweet wagon called the Sport Turismo. Since it slots between the 4S and Turbo variants, the Taycan GTS gets the larger 93.4-kWh battery as standard equipment. That means it also has an 800-volt charging architecture, enabling it to hit peak rates of 270 kW. This allows you to charge from 5 to 80% in roughly 22.5 minutes. Its two electric motors make up to 590 hp and 626 lb-ft of torque, enabling the car to hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

GTS models get the same suspension components as the Taycan Turbo but their calibration is unique. Six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers are shared with the Taycan 4S along with 390-mm front and 358-mm rear rotors. Adaptive air suspension with a front-end lift system and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) are also standard. Porsche also re-tuned the Electric Sport Sound system specifically for the Taycan GTS so that it makes a deeper and louder sound.

So, what’s the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition going to cost you? Well, if you’re in North America you’re out of luck because this model is exclusive to the European market. Should you be fine with a standard Taycan GTS, you’ll be able to get one for a cool $132,750 for the sedan or $134,650 for the more practical wagon.

The EPA has yet to release its range estimates for the Taycan GTS but expect it to split the difference between the 4S and Turbo models.
