Ford F-150 Lightning gets price hike, increased range

The Ford F-150 Lightning order books are open again, but if you’ve been patiently waiting for an opportunity to order this all-electric pickup, we have some bad news. The American automaker is adjusting  increasing the MSRP anywhere from $6,000 to $8,500 based on the trim. The XLT High/Extended Range and Lariat Extended Range sees the biggest price increase at $8,500. The XLT High and Platinum Extended Range are up $6,000. The XLT trim sees a $6,500 increase while the Pro and Lariat models jump $7,000.

The price increase is a bit unsurprising given how the market has become, especially for EVs. Ford attributes the adjustment to significant material cost increases and other factors. The good news is that current Lightning reservation holders who elected to extend their reservation will get a private offer for the upcoming waves. Current holders waiting for delivery will not be impacted by the price increases.

Some changes are heading to the F-150 Lightning, most noticeably the standard range battery models now have an EPA-estimated 240-mile range — an increase of 10 miles. Ford has also added Pro Trailer Hitch Assist technology, which automatically controls steering, throttle, and brake inputs to make hitching trailers easier. The new tech is standard on the Tow Technology Package, which is available on Pro, XLT, and Lariat trims. It will be standard on certain Lariat trims and the Platinum trim.

Two new colors have also been added to the lineup: Avalanche Gray and Azure Gray metallic tri-coat. Those two colors will replace Atlas Blue, Ice Blue Silver, and Smoked Quartz Metallic, which will no longer be available on the F-150 Lightning.

For fleet customers, there is a new Ford Pro Special Service Vehicle Package for F-150 Lightning Pro models. The package includes police-grade, heavy-duty cloth front seats, built-in steel intrusion plates, and available roof-mounted LED warning beacons.

Here are the new MSRPs for the Ford F-150 Lightning, excluding destination and delivery fees:

  • Ford F-150 Lightning Pro: $46,974
  • Ford F-150 Lightning XLT: $59,474
  • Ford F-150 Lightning XLT High: $68,474
  • Ford F-150 Lightning XLT High / Extended Range: $80,974
  • Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat: $74,474
  • Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range: $85,974
  • Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Extended Range: $96,874
