Watch: We go hands on — we mean hands off — with Ford’s BlueCruise in the Mustang Mach-E GT

We’ve tested the new Ford Mustang Mach-E GT in the cliffs around San Francisco for our first drive review. We’ve taken a Mach-E GT Performance Edition to the drag strip to test its performance. But there’s one other feature that’s relatively new from Ford that we haven’t tested yet: BlueCruise.

Ford’s BlueCruise technology is a hands-off driver assistance suite that, on appropriately mapped roads, will maintain speed and distance from the car in front while staying in the lane without the driver having to have their hands on the steering wheel.

Using eye tracking and facial monitoring technology, the driver is monitored to make sure they’re paying attention. Unlike a system like Tesla’s Autopilot, Ford’s monitoring doesn’t rely on steering wheel inputs to make sure the driver is focused.

But how does it work? We filmed a short video breaking down the tech, where it’s currently at, and what we expect from the future.
